Green Cleaning with the Eco Proportioning Program

Green Cleaning with the Eco Proportioning Program

In the cleaning industry, being green is more than providing eco-friendly chemistry. Buckeye’s Eco® Proportioning Program is committed to providing the most innovative, high performance and cost-effective products, packaging, and proportioning systems to promote human health and safety.

Green Seal Certified Products

Several Eco products are Green Seal® certified. One of the first ecolabeling nonprofits, Green Seal has pioneered the movement, setting high standards for human health, reduced environmental impact, and excellent performance. Green Seal has certified thousands of products in the hopes of producing a greener, healthier world.

Eco Green Seal certified products exemplify our commitment to manufacturing safer products for the worker and environment. In fact, Eco Green Seal certified products not only outperform other green cleaners, they outperform other conventional chemistries.

Packaging

Eco products are packaged with reliable and recyclable materials to ensure worker and environmental safety.

Eco 1.25 L Bags

  • Hermetically sealed to ensure no contamination.
  • Flexible to eliminate product waste, delivering a 99% evacuation rate.
  • Manufactured with 83% less plastic than rigid containers.
  • New metering plug in every bag ensures no tip clogging and highly accurate dilution.
  • Spill proof to prevent contact with concentrated product.
  • Compact size for easy transport and storage.

Eco Outer Box and Inner Carton Packaging

Eco outer box packaging is recyclable, double wall corrugated and made from 41% recycled material. Eco inner carton packaging is made from 100% recycled paperboard and 35% post-consumer material.

Eco Proportioning System

Eco proportioning systems were designed with employee safety in mind. They automatically dilute products, eliminating direct contact with concentrated products and ensuring products are diluted according to manufacturer specifications. The concentrated products diluted by Eco proportioning systems require less packaging and weigh less, eliminating additional freight/fuel charges required to ship.

The Eco Pro, Eco Element, and Eco Edge proportioning systems are user friendly. All proportioning systems are color and number coded to correspond with product packaging, making it safe and easy for employees to operate the system.

Maximize Efficiency with the Eco Proportioning Program

Maximize Efficiency with the Eco Proportioning Program

From general cleaning to restroom cleaning and food service area cleaning, the wide range of necessary products can begin to add up. Keeping track of the dilution rate and application of each product can get overwhelming. It can start to waste the time of staff members and, in some cases, prevent them from cleaning and disinfecting properly. The Eco® Proportioning Program is designed to maximize efficiency with easy-to-operate proportioning systems, cohesive labeling, and outstanding product performance.

All Eco products are proportioned through Eco proportioning systems. Eco proportioning systems are automatic, compact, and self-contained with a cohesive user interface and experience. All three proportioning systems (Eco Pro®, Eco Element®, and Eco Edge®) have the same user interface with seamless push and lock buttons. All Eco products are diluted and dispensed with the push of a button, consolidating the dilution process for all facility cleaners and disinfectants.

Eco products use a unique and intuitive labeling system to help staff members easily identify products. Each Eco product has a corresponding color and number that can be found on the product packaging, spray bottle, and proportioning system. In combination with Eco’s proportioning systems, Eco’s labeling system simplifies the proportioning process for all staff members, helping them focus on the more important task of cleaning.

Eco products cover all your facility’s cleaning needs including food service and preparation areas, restrooms, carpet cleaning, and other general cleaning. When asked about his elementary school’s switch to Eco, one head custodian said, “Staff has really liked the change to Eco. The chemicals work a lot better than what we used in the past.” Because Eco products work better than other cleaners and disinfectants, staff members no longer have to waste time recleaning areas because residue has been left behind. Eco products work on the first application.

When Buckeye representatives install Eco proportioning systems, they train staff members on the proportioning systems and products. Eco also has customizable wall charts that staff members can refer to as they dispense products and clean. Staff members at one university commented on the helpfulness of Buckeye training and wall charts, saying, “Buckeye has been extremely helpful in making sure that our staff is properly trained. I like the wall charts above the systems. If I ever forget what a chemical does or how to install a bag, it’s posted right there.”

With Eco and the training provided by Buckeye representatives, staff members can be confident in a clean facility. To find out more about the Eco Proportioning Program, contact your local Buckeye representative.

Buckeye’s Sustainable Packaging

Buckeye’s Sustainable Packaging

Buckeye has been working to reduce the amount of plastic in packaging since they launched the 5-gallon Action Pac®, “bag-in-a-box” packaging. This package design eliminated plastic pails and their adverse effects on landfills. Since then, Buckeye has spent 31 years continuing to reduce plastic packaging waste.

Today, Buckeye’s Eco® Proportioning Program uses 1.25-liter bags for products. Because these bags are flexible and contain concentrated products, they reduce the amount of plastic used, resulting in less plastic going to the landfill. In comparison to a rigid 2.5-liter container, Eco bags use 83% less plastic for identical amounts of concentrated chemistry. Additionally, Eco’s 1.25-liter bags virtually eliminate product waste by providing 99.9% product evacuation. The bag’s hermetic seal means there is no potential for contamination and no risk of workers coming into contact with concentrated chemicals.

Eco 1.25-liter bags are boxed in cartons made from 100% recycled paperboard with a minimum of 35% post-consumer material. The outer packaging for Eco products is made of 41% recycled material. For each ton of outer boxes used, 820 pounds of material is reused.

Buckeye continues to design programs and products that have a minimal impact on the environment. The Symmetry® Hand Hygiene Program also utilizes flexible packaging that uses less plastic than rigid hand hygiene product containers.

Buckeye’s commitment to sustainability extends beyond its product packaging as well. To learn more about sustainability at Buckeye click here. For more specific information on Buckeye’s programs, contact your local Buckeye representative.

Key Features of Eco Proportioning Systems

Key Features of Eco Proportioning Systems

Proportioning systems are the easiest way to keep the cleanest facility. Achieve the best overall value for each dollar spent with the fully integrated Eco® Proportioning Program, designed and manufactured with proprietary technology and the end-user in mind.

Automatic

Eco proportioning systems make diluting cleaning products as simple as pushing a button. Proportioning systems take the guess work out of product dilution. Facilities don’t have to worry about workers coming into contact with harsh chemicals or wasting product by improperly diluting them.

Compact

Eco offers three different proportioning systems including the Eco Pro, Eco Element, and Eco Edge. Each of these systems is compact and able to fit in virtually any custodial closet.

Eco Pro®

  • Used for broad spectrum cleaning
  • Dilutes up to six applications
  • 4 low flow fills at 1.25 gpm
  • 2 high flow fills at 5 gpm
  • 1 water only fill at 5 gpm

Eco Element®

  • Used for remote and satellite locations
  • Dilutes up to three applications
  • 2 low flow fills at 1.25 gpm
  • 1 high low fill at 5 gpm

Eco Edge

  • Used for remote and satellite locations
  • Dilutes up to three applications
  • 2 high flow fills at 5 gpm
  • 1 low flow fill at 1.25 gpm

Standardized

Whether you need to clean the floors, the bathroom, or windows in your facility, with the Eco proportioning system, the process to dilute each cleaning product is the same.

The clear buckets of the proportioning system allow users to check product levels and clearly see the color of each product. Each product is labeled by color and number on both the proportioning system and the silk-screened spray bottles to help identify them and make product dilution simple. Eco’s goal is to provide standard systems and procedures to make cleaning easier and more cost-effective for the end user.

Improve Carpet Care with Buckeye

Improve Carpet Care with Buckeye

Advances in carpet design, manufacturing, and maintenance have made it a viable alternative to hard floors in many facilities. Carpets are natural filters, capturing most dirt and soil. However, they tend to hide dirt better than hard floors, so waiting to clean carpets until they look dirty is too late. To keep your carpeted floors looking their best, Buckeye offers routine, interim, and restorative maintenance procedures in their various maintenance training programs.

Buckeye’s training programs detail the maintenance needs of matting and wall to wall carpeting. Daily maintenance depends heavily on things like the amount of traffic in certain areas of your facility. Though daily maintenance can, for the most part, keep carpets and matting in your facility clean, interim and restorative procedures are also important. Over time, carpets can become soiled to the point where vacuuming and spot cleaning are not adequate. A more thorough surface cleaning or deep cleaning is needed. As winter approaches, winter weather may also require deeper carpet cleaning. Snow melt and other debris can quickly become embedded in carpeting or matting. Buckeye’s training programs supply a guide to deeper cleaning procedures as well.

Buckeye’s complete line of carpet care products can cover all of your facility carpet care needs. The Eco® Proportioning Program offers several carpet cleaning products, including Eco Carpet Spotter E51 and Eco Extraction Cleaner E52. With Eco, Buckeye makes it possible to standardize your facility’s cleaning program. Eco proportioning systems automatically dilute super concentrated products accurately every time. Whether diluting carpet care products, food service area products, or restroom cleaning products, Eco provides standardized operating procedures to your maintenance staff. Beyond that, the Eco Proportioning Program considers space availability, the number of products your facility will need, and whether or not those products require additional security.

Depending on the needs of your facility, Buckeye’s carpet care training programs and products can be customized to fit your needs. Because dirt can easily get embedded in carpet, it is important to clean your carpets often and well. Contact your local Buckeye representative to learn more about how Buckeye can help with carpet care in your facility.

Keeping Food Service Areas Clean with Buckeye

Keeping Food Service Areas Clean with Buckeye

Food service areas are some of the most important areas to concentrate on when cleaning. If improperly cleaned, kitchens and facility food bars can become hubs for bacteria and other germs. Keeping any food service areas in your facility clean can help prevent major health concerns.

Buckeye has the products and training materials a facility needs to effectively clean all food service surfaces, including countertops, walls, floors, tables, food bars, salad bars, grills, ovens, food and processing equipment. The Eco® Proportioning Program provides several products designed for cleaning inside food service areas and beyond. Products like Eco Sanitizer E62, Eco Heavy-Duty Cleaner E61, Eco One-Step Disinfectant/Deodorizer/Cleaner E22, and Eco Multi-Purpose Glass Cleaner E13 can clean and disinfect most food service areas.

Eco products are super concentrated and can reduce labor in your facility. The Eco Proportioning Program, as a whole, ensures proper dilution of products with compact Eco proportioning systems and makes cleaning your facility quick, easy, and economical. Customize the program to fit your facility by choosing which products and proportioning systems work best for you.

Buckeye is committed to providing more than just products for facilities looking to get the most out of their maintenance program. Buckeye provides several training programs designed to help facility staff members navigate cleaning food service areas and much more. For schools and universities, Buckeye has the Honors® Training Program. This program includes 24/7 access to the Honors website where training videos, tests, manuals, PowerPoint presentations, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), product literature, and wall charts are available. Buckeye also has several other training programs, including the Insight® Long-term Care Facility Program, Prescription® Hospital Environmental Services Maintenance Program, Clarity® Plus Supermarket and Retail Floor Maintenance Program, YMCA Cleaning/Training Program, and Correctional Facility Maintenance Cleaning/Training Program.

The Honors Training Program provides comprehensive information on properly maintaining food service areas. It breaks cleaning food service areas down into three key components: preparation, cleaning, and sanitizing. They also give in-depth information on Buckeye’s triple sink method to wash, rinse, and sanitize dishes, utensils, glassware, pots, pans, and other equipment that comes into contact with food.

Keeping your food service area clean and ready is an important task. Buckeye has the tools you’ll need to help keep the people who have access to food areas in your facility happy and healthy. Restroom Cleaning Procedures

Restroom Cleaning Procedures

Restrooms are high traffic areas that receive a lot of use, and require frequent cleaning and disinfecting. Often restrooms are affected by mold, mildew, germs, odors, and even graffiti.

Before cleaning a restroom, it’s important to take proper safety measures. Place a “Wet Floor” sign at the entrance to the restroom and be sure to wear the proper personal protective equipment – rubber gloves and eye protection.

Gather the proper equipment and products, including several products from Buckeye’s Eco® Proportioning Program. The Eco Proportioning Program is Buckeye’s solution to dilution control. Eco proportioning systems dilute concentrated products quickly and accurately. Each product is reliable and economical, offering the end user overall value and convenience. Eco provides all the products you’ll need to clean restrooms and nearly any other room in your facility, including several Green Seal certified products for facilities that are concerned about their environmental impact.

Begin the cleaning process by lowering the water in each toilet bowl with a bowl brush, and spraying the bowls and urinals with Eco One-Step Disinfectant/Deodorizer/Cleaner E22. The key to restroom cleaning is allowing your Eco disinfectant to dwell for 10 minutes before wiping down the area. Allowing for proper dwell time gives disinfectants time to effectively kill germs. Eco Glass Cleaner HD E12 S12

As you let E22 dwell, high dust anything above shoulder height and check that all soap dispensers are working and filled with soap. Then, clean mirrors and glass with Eco Glass Cleaner HD E12 or Eco Multi-Purpose Glass Cleaner E13 and a microfiber cloth. Spray and wipe the sinks and countertops with your Buckeye Eco disinfectant. Clean walls and partitions using Eco Muscle Cleaner E14 and Eco Heavy-Duty Cleaner E61 for difficult areas such as graffiti and permanent marker.

By this time E22 has had enough time to dwell. Respray the external parts of the toilet bowls and urinals, and wipe them down with a microfiber cloth working from high to low. Then use a bowl brush to clean the inside of toilet bowls and urinals. To remove stubborn mineral deposits, use Eco Acid Cleaner E16.

Finally, sweep the floor and scrape up gum and other items stuck to the floor with a putty knife. Empty the trash receptacles and replace the liners. Damp mop the floor with your Eco disinfectant cleaner using the figure-8 technique. Let the disinfectant air dry.

Every two weeks: clean sinks, toilet bowls and urinals with Eco Acid Cleaner E16.

Once a week: Clean trash receptacles with an Eco Once-Step Disinfectant/Deodorizer/Cleaner E22 and apply Eco Odor Counteractant E42 to the floor, and around toilets and urinals.

Removing germs from restrooms is important for the health of everyone in your facility. Having proven cleaning procedures can help improve the state of your facility and the health of the people in it. Buckeye provides standardized training programs for nearly any facility type. These programs include instruction videos, detailed procedure manuals, and easy-to-follow wall charts.

For schools and universities, Buckeye provides the Honors® custodial training program. This program’s videos and training materials are online and accessible 24/7. Viewers can test themselves on the knowledge they have gained from each Honors video. Supervisors can then view reports on those tests to gauge how much information has been retained.
